Twice …. Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Champion!

Ottawa Valley native April Verch is no stranger to the Canadian music scene; she’s been touring full time for over ten years now.  If you still picture her as the young up and comer from years past, who’s principal identity is “fiddle and stepdancer”, then it’s time to take another look! 

April continues to mesmerize audiences with her fiddling virtuosity and remarkable stepdancing, but as April has matured so have her musical tastes continued to grow and evolve: while she delivers richly textured phrasing on traditional roots tunes, bluegrass and newgrass melodies, jazz-influenced compositions and country-tinged music, what gives her a compelling edge is the inclusion of what is old. It is tradition that she stands upon.

In recent years April has also become a soulful songstress.  It’s the addition and contrast of sweet soprano vocals that has given even more interest and depth to performances and recordings. 

The April Verch Band, with April at the helm, features equally talented and dedicated musicians Cody Walters (bass & banjo) and Clay Ross (guitar). 

The trio entrances audiences by switching from the lyrical to the lightning swift in a heartbeat creating exhilarating cadences that end in a rousing, jubilant celebration.

The energy of this trio on stage is absolutely electrifying!
