"Their sound is panoramic, mischievous, fiercely
unpretentious - and musically splendid" - Boston
Globe
The Bills make people feel good with their music. Simple
as that. Young or old. Trad or Alt. The
band is Canada's West Coast acoustic roots music powerhouse,
and they have a way of turning everyone on to the limitless
possibilities of their instruments and voices. Strings,
bellows, voices, keys, skin and bows - these are the
vehicles for the Bills' irresistible joyride.
It's easiest to label The Bills an important voice
in the current folk/roots movement, but this uber-musical
quintet transcends categories and sonic boundaries. This
is music for the ages, all the ages – for everyone
in your audience. Music that draws upon the most
soulful and intellectual sonic elements to create something
that is uniquely West Coast Canadian - songs that bring
together broad global influences to create poetry,
melody, harmony and groove that speak clearly of Canada’s
Pacific coast.
"Probably the best live act I have ever seen" - Maverick
Magazine, UK
The Bills' live shows are legendary for their exuberance,
power, virtuosity and sheer entertainment. Their
recorded work carries all the same tratis: they've
been recognized through two JUNO nominations, two Western
Canadian Music Awards and countless positive media
and fan reviews. The band plans to tour North
America and Western Europe in 2013/2014.
"The biggest blast of fresh air to come out of Canada
since The Band" - Glasgow Herald
Their latest release, Yes Please, features some of
The Bills' finest songwriting to date. Your audiences
will hear the influences of North American roots, folk,
rock, maritime fiddle, bluegrass, cajun, romany and
Brazilian choro traditions. You'll also hear
traces of Chopin, Stan Rogers and Django Reinhardt. But
you'll ultimately hear The Bills, doing the magical
thing that they do.
