Stick&Bow unites Krystina Marcoux (marimba) and Juan Sebastian Delgado (cello).

Fueled by the conviction that music should reach out as it reaches up, these two musicians join forces to explore, arrange, and commission works that are both daring and supremely enjoyable. In their creative process, they combine musical narration with staging or electronics in the powerful combination of cello and marimba. Their rare instrumentation transforms the listening of familiar works in refreshing and unexpected ways.

The programs presented by Stick&Bow mix new and original works along with transcriptions of some of the most celebrated works in the history of western art, such as Schubertss Erlkönig, J.S Bachss piano prelude and fugues, Grapelliss gypsy- inspired jazz music, and Piazzollass revolutionary instrumental tangos. They recently conceived and created a new show, Bach&Forth commissioned by the GRAME for the prestigious Lyon Biennale 2018, exploring the crossroads of humor, theater and music. Invested in the dissemination and promotion of the music of our time, the duo recently premiered in Italy, Daniel’s Tango written for them by Piazzolla’s student, bandoneón player and composer, Marcelo Nisinman. In 2018, they will be collaborating with Canadian composer Jason Noble and with French/Argentinean composer Luis Naón, professor at the Paris Conservatory in the creation of new works for the duo.

In addition to their active performance schedule, Juan Sebastian and Krystina are invested into musical outreach and education, having given classes, workshops and recitals in harshly impoverished areas and remote locations in Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Armenia and France, working with organizations such as Fundacion Batuta, YOA Orchestra of the Americas, El Sistema Armenia, Hors Saison Musicale, and MIRA concert series, among others.
