The Dakhká Khwáan Dancers work to bring opportunity of cultural revitalization and social transformation within their communities by reclaiming their languages, traditional values through the traditional art form of song, drumming, dance, storytelling. Dash has worked with them to produce this innovative music which honours both the traditional and the contemporary in a way that is as exciting as it is moving.Together they create music that fuses First Nation Tlingit dance, and song with electronic music.
Deconstruct Reconstruct is a live multimedia performance that fuses Tlingit First Nation singing, drumming and dance with electronic music, and video. This high energy performance features carved cedar animal masks, stunning regalia, and floor shaking bass and beats that carry the unique voices of the Dakhká Khwáan Dancers into the future.
DASH
Daniel Ashley (DASH) is an electronic music producer, DJ, vocalist, percussionist, and media composer. Raised in the Yukon, the territory’s diverse natural soundscapes have shaped his unique style of music composition. DASH’s production style involves recording and arranging environmental sounds and incorporating them with electronic beats, bass, and atmospheres. DASH has a variety of skills and talents including: teaching, carpentry, and downhill ski coaching. He is also no stranger to a chain saw when the weather begins to turn. Some of his more notable performances include: 2017 From the North Tour, 2017 Canada Games, 2016 Shambala Music Festival, 2012 Arctic Winter Games Opening Ceremonies, 2010 Paralympic Opening Ceremonies, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
