**Winner of the CALQ Work of the Year Award for the Eastern Townships**

The Cicada and the Ant is a choreographic work for young and old that casts a glance at the world of art and of agriculture. Largely influenced by Francine Châteauvert’s rural roots and upbringing and inspired by the renowned fable by Jean de La Fontaine, this work transports us to the heart of life, into the difficulty and beauty of the ordinary.

The soil, a field, an empty space where anything is possible, where gradually humans settle, build, sow, work, sing and harvest. From the sowing of the seed to the harvest, the production paints a down to earth, poetic vision of the world of the artist and of the small farmer.

The Sursaut Dance Company
is dedicated to the creation, production, and dissemination of dance works for young and family audiences. Joyful, poetic and touching, the company’s productions witness to the maturity of a progressive and evolutionary artistic vision, aimed at young audiences since 30 years. Presented from coast to coast in Canada as well as internationally, Sursaut’s productions inspire and charm young and old alike, everywhere they are presented.
