Young Québec harpist Valérie Milot, described as "very refined" artist by La Presse, Montréal, has an impeccable technique and is such a colourful and powerful musician that she challenges all the clichés about her instrument.

Valérie has received numerous competition awards, including the prestigious Prix'd Europe 2008, becoming the first harpist in almost 100 years to receive this honour. In 2005, she was a laureate at the American Harp Society National Competition, earning the "Salzedo Centennial Fund" award for her interpretation of the work Scintillation, by Carlos Salzedo. She was also laureate of the OSM Standard Life Competition in 2007, in addition to winning the prize for best interpretation of a Canadian work, for Tanzmusik by Glenn Buhr.  Valérie also distinguished herself as a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition's International Stepping Stones 2008, was named Young Soloist 2009 by the French Public Radios network, made up of Radio France, Radio Suisse Romande, RTBF Belgium and Radio-Canada.  Valérie won in November 2008 the Special Prize for best interpretation of a contemporary work in the International harp Competition of the Citédes Arts in Paris.

Valérie's career as a soloist and chamber musician has been consistently rising over the past 2 years. In July 2008, she travelled to Amsterdam to perform Raga, a work for two harps with the composer, Canadian harpist Caroline Lizotte, as part of the 2008 World Harp Congress. In 2009, she gave recitals at the Lanaudière international festival and Lachine festival. During the 2009-2010 season, among other projects, she was a guest soloist with Les Violons du Roy, the SMCQ and she will tour nationally with Jeunesses musicales du Canada. Also, her first recording, "Revelation", was released under the prestigious label Analekta.

Her exceptional early success was rewarded last September when she was selected "Révélation Radio-Canada Musique" for the 2009-2010 season.
