Sweet, Gritty & Honest! Pharis and Jason Romero, after winning a Juno Award for their 2016 release ‘A Wanderer I’ll Stay’, are currently touring in support of their fourth record, Sweet Old Religion, receiving strong airplay internationally and winning 2 Canadian Folk Music Awards in December 2018! Their voices, guitars and banjos move as one, leading the listener through a wooded landscape of original and early music. Old songs, rural life, and archaic banjo tunings are the undercurrents while the desires for love, connection and community flow in the music and stories of life in their tiny town of Horsefly, BC. Pharis and Jason perform as a duo or with 'The Sweet Old Band' featuring Marc Jenkins on pedal steel, Patrick Metzger on upright bass. Also featured on the award nominated recording 'Sweet Old Religion’ the band members add creative depth, texture and pulse while leaving space for Pharis and Jason to stay front and centre. When not at home building custom banjos, the Juno award winning duo has traveled Canada, the USA and Europe to play concert halls and festivals. ”Pharis & Jason’s luscious harmonies will get followers of any faith singing their praises.” RNR Magazine.
