Global Heat features international MC/b-boy/DJ Justin Murta and collaborating dancers from Dog Pound and the world-champion break dance crew Massive Monkees. Based in the Seattle (USA) area, band members have performed in more than 30 countries worldwide, including tours to Japan, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, China, and Vietnam. Global Heat has been featured at the Shanghai (China) International Music Festival, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show, and some of the Northwest’s biggest festivals and concert theatres. Global Heat won a Northwest Jammin’ Challenge produced by Seattle Wave Radio and Hard Rock Cafe, and has received awards from Seattle Next50, 4Culture, and Theatre Puget Sound.
As MC, b-boy, and DJ, Justin Murta has worked with Usher and Chris Brown; and shared the stage with Cee Lo Green (The Voice), Macklemore, Crash Test Dummies, Blake Lewis, members of Wu Tang, and other primary artists. He has been featured on: NBC’s “HipHop Nation”(USA), MTV 2 (USA) and MTV (Asia), Today TV/SNTV (Asia), Fox’s ITVNW (USA), and other TV shows, and has headlined events with audiences up to 100,000.
Dog Pound b-boy crew (aka Vicious Puppies) was the warm-up act for Kendrick Lamar at the 2015 Sasquatch Festival, and member Sammy Tekle was part of Macklemore’s show at the 2015 MTV video music awards. This contemporary dance group presents youthful, adventuresome works that combine high-energy b-boy free-styling with choreographed, synchronized dance.
