Kokoma African Heritage Dance and Drum Ensemble presents a breath taking explosion of high energy drumming, dancing and chanting. A demonstration of Tradition that is rich with deep meanings and stories that celebrates the cycle of life. Their dazzling costumes highlight the significance and beauty of African culture.

The group is made up of daughters and sons of African heritage and has been performing across Canada for the past 12 years. Their repertoire is rich in poetic and mythological imagery as well as spiritual metaphors and symbolism. Kokoma interprets the traditional dances of old legends, ceremonies and folklore. Through their dynamic dances, audiences will be entertained and educated about African culture. They will be brought to their feet as they feel the rhythm of the drums and dances in their bodies, experiencing first hand that Art is not separate from daily life but rather an expression of life.
