Sometimes the most unlikely of pairings can create something absolutely enchanting! Sweet SantaFe combines Canadian folk style songwriting with Caribbean rhythms, and rich, warm vocal harmonies transporting you to a sunny beach with a gentle breeze drifting off the azure ocean.
After several Western Canadian Tours, Sweet SantaFe has shown time and time again that they have an extraordinary ability to interact with the audience. Their Debut album, released in October 2017, had them dubbed as a “local treasure” by Doug Cox the Artist Director of Vancouver Island Music Festival. This brought them opportunities in the Summer of 2018 to collaboration at the Vancouver Island Music Festival at the “Songwriters in the Round” with Matt Epp, Celeigh Cardinal, Dave Kelly and Christine Collister, and Terry ‘Harmonica’ Bean. They have been interviewed on CBC radio, No Strings attached and Talk N Tunes. Their debut album has been played across college radio, charting in the #1 spot in world music on CFBX in Kamloops, and they have performed live on CITR The Medicine Show at UBC in Vancouver, CFUV in Victoria and CHLY in Nanaimo . Sweet SantaFe has also performed alongside Choirs, such as Rhythm and Roots in Vancouver, and Island Soul Choir at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo.
Watch them. In 2020 they will be bringing you a new album titled “Dichoso” a Spanish word that means fortunate, and they do feel that way. They are fortunate to be collaborating on their second album with Jose Sanchez, percussionist, singer, recording engineer and touring drummer for Alex Cuba, Pablo Cardenas one of the best Cuban pianists of his generation, Tom Keenlyside an iconic Canadian saxophonist and flutist from Vancouver, and Rene Worst one of the most influential and leading jazz voices of North America. Schedule for release in the Summer of 2020.
